MILESTONE:
100TH FIRST TO FIND! Round
Pond Micro (GCZK40)
- Yippee!
----------
It's
about time... I placed my first six caches in our new 'home'
state of Maine. It was a multi-cache series, where each of
the micros have part of coordinates to the final stage which
is a full-size ammo can. I named them "Wicked
Awful Micros of Maine". They are:
Smart
Pets (GCZ8MQ)
Keep
It On The Down Lowes (GCZ8MT)
Target
Acquired (GCZ8MV)
A
Little Buggie (GCZ8MY)
Ancient
Mariner (GCZ8N1)
Biddeford
Strips WAMM Final (GCZ8N6)
I've
got great comments on these and had fun placing them. I have
even more fun reading the logs. Hoamdezinahs and MaineSleddahs
shared the FTF, though neither one of them grabbed the FTF
ribbon ("Ribbon? What ribbon?"). Anyway, I'm working
on the next multistage which will be themed as "Spirit
Hunts", and if you are familiar with this at all you'll
know what type of hides they will be. Keep watching!

Well,
we're here. In Maine. Yep, we made the BIG move. It took us
15 days of driving with two cars pulling two U-Haul trailers
from one side of the continent to the other. We are now Bi-Coastal.
We live about six miles West of Porland, Maine. Wow. Used
to be anything six miles WEST of us was under water!
We
haven't done much Geocaching since we've been here, and we
only did a few on the trip... enough to get at least one cache
in every state we passed through, and if you include the state
we started in and the one we ended up in, that was 16 states!
I
guess this means we'll have to change our banner. We no longer
can be the "Source for Coastal Northern California Geocaching
Information", right? We look a lot different now, too.
Even with over 600 finds, we still feel like newbies caching
here. The folks over on the Right Coast hide caches just a
wee bit differently than what we're used to. Not a bad thing,
just something to adjust to. It adds to the adventure!
You
can visit our profile on Geocaching.com
to see a map of all of the states we've cached in.

I
have realized another sad thing about myself... I am addicted
to Geocoins. *sigh* I would beg, borrow and steal to get my
hands on an uncirculated Tracking Time or Prime Meridian.
Want to see what coins I've got, what I have to trade and
what I want? Visit the new GEOCOINS
page... PLEASE!

The
Third Annual Cool Coastal Retreat Event, though
it was kind of a last minute thing, worked out wonderfully.
We had the highest turn out of the prior two, and there were
loads of goodies auctioned, raffled and brought to eat. A
few Geocaches were placed for attendees to find, too:
Lady
by the Fountain (GCX597)
Curry
Favor with 2Trax (CX598)
My
Buddy's (GCX599)
Folks
also hunted for (and found!):
Tempus
Fidget (GCW8DR)
Java
the Hut (GCW8DQ)
Take
a Walk on the Surfside (GCVJTN)
Everybody
Loves Raymond (GCVJGY)
Reuse
-> Recycle -> Renew (GCVJ5C)
Close
to Home (GCVJ58)
100
Down (since nobody found it for months!) (GCQ3CV)
and
gpsjeepers "Cliff
Cache" (GCWPXX) multi, which had yet to be found.
A
great time was had, some cool Travel Bugs and GeoCoins were
traded and Discovered (like 2Trax's Big Green Bug and our
Big Yellow Jeep TBs) and some folks even came over to the
house to wish us well and discuss how they would handle next
year's CCRE. We can't thank you all enough, and hope you'll
invite us next year, whether we can come or not!
----------
I
hope that you are visiting here because you have found one
of our geocaches, or you read about this fascinating hobby
in the local newspaper, The Daily Triplicate (which isn't
delivered daily, and doesn't come in triplicate... oh well.).
We
hope we can help to enjoy this terrific and addicting sport.
Our goal is to make believers out of those who have never
been geocaching, and to supply more information to those who
are already hooked.
In
the future we plan to add a message board. For now we would
like to gauge the response/traffic here. If you have something
you would like to add [like a link to your geocaching site?!],
please email RedwoodRed
with your requests.
